A new cultural project titled “The Grand Voyage of the Phoenicians” is preparing to launch in Byblos, Lebanon widely regarded as one of the cradles of the Phoenician civilization.
Developed and produced by HYBRID Xperience in collaboration with the Byblos Municipality and under the patronage of the Ministry of Tourism, the initiative blends digital art, historical narrative, and immersive technology to revisit Lebanon’s ancient maritime heritage.
The installation invites visitors on a multi-sensory journey highlighting the Phoenicians’ innovations, trade networks, and cultural reach across the Mediterranean. Drawing on historical research and digital projection techniques, the project aims to reinforce cultural awareness while contributing to the country’s growing interest in experience-based tourism.
“This project is not just about the past,” said Roy Azzi, Founder and Creative Director of HYBRID Xperience. “It’s about how Lebanon can lead the future of cultural innovation through experiences that merge history, art, and technology.”
Planned as a permanent fixture, the experience seeks to position Byblos as a center for immersive tourism and artistic exploration. The opening ceremony gathered officials including the Minister of Tourism, the Mayor of Byblos, and Deputy Ziad Hawat, all of whom supported the initiative.
The Grand Voyage of the Phoenicians is scheduled to open to the public in Spring 2026.
